Pellet Buy
Author Last Post
A big thank you to Rudy and the gang who put the pellet buy together.  Thank you!
Thanks, to those who are participating in the 2016 RMBBQA pellet buy.
All of the pellet orders have been sorted and can be picked up at the The Grillin’ Shop, 6770 S. Peoria St., Centennial, CO on Saturday (Apr 30) between 10am-2pm and Sunday (May 1) 10am-2pm. The Grillin’ Shop is located on the SE corner of Arapahoe Rd and S. Peoria St. in Centennial.
The pick up will be at the rear of the Grillin’ Shop. Please try and make it on Saturday if you can because that’s when I’ll have volunteers to help load up the pellets.
A big thanks to the volunteers who helped sort the pellet bags today: Bob Oldfield, Allen Yamashita, and Scott Parker.  I will be there both days to help out.
Another big thanks to Don Natale for letting us use his store and equipment to make this all possible.
I’m looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

Kristi,
As far as I know, yes. I and a group of volunteers will be going to sort the pellet bags this morning. I'll to Don to make sure we both agree the pellet buy will take place then send out an email to those who placed orders. I'll also post on the Forum and Facebook.
The weather looks like it will cooperate for the Saturday and Sunday pick up.

I assume tomorrow's pellet pickup is still on despite the less-than-optimal weather forecast?

Another friendly reminder: The pellet buy ends this Friday (Apr 15)  at 9pm.
A friendly reminder: the 2016 RMBBQA pellet buy starts today. Log on to the RMBBQA website and go to the Pins, Swag, Pellets section to place your order.

I have been using....Competition MHC Blend - 1/3 each Maple-Hickory-Cherry for some time now. Perfect pour out of the bag blend in my opinion. The Timber Blend sounds good too.
Don't be afraid to add a little Maple, its great!
Brad,
I talked to Don and Lumber Jack today and they are no longer carrying the Cherry Flavor (60% Red Oak-40% Cherry) blend you've been using. Don Natale suggested you blend your own as you can buy 100% cherry and 100% oak.

Rudy
Brad, I found the blend you are talking about on a Lumber Jack promotional advertisement handout that Don gave me. Lumber Jack calls it "Cherry Flavor". The flavors that I have listed are the ones Don was able to get a discount on. I hope we can get you a discount on the "Cherry Flavor" for you. I have a reminder on my computer to remind me to call Don on Monday. I'll post on the Forum again once I find out.
It's not listed. It's called "cherry blend" and it's 60% red oak and 40% cherry.
Thanks, Brad.
Of the five cherry blends I have listed, is the one you use not on that list? Let me know which one you use and I can check with Don Natale of the Grillin' Shop. He listed only the pellets that he was able to get a discount on.
If you have a different cherry blend I can see if Don can get that blend at a discounted price.

Rudy
Hey Rudy.....are we limited to just the pellet blends you listed? I have been using the cherry blend from lumberjack and would like to stay with that if possible.
thanks for all the hard work!

The 2016 Rocky Mountain BBQ Association (RMBBQA) group pellet buy timeline and details have been finalized. The group pellet buy is a service provided by the RMBBQA to all members in good standing. This year's pellet pick-up will again be at Don Natale’s "The Grillin’ Shop” (Thank you, Don!). Don’s store has moved to a new location on the SE corner of Arapahoe Rd and S. Peoria St at 6770 S. Peoria St, Centennial, CO 80112. Phone (303) 867-6607. Don also offers a 15% discount to all RMBBQA members for products in his shop.
We are using Lumberjack pellets this year. The following flavors will be available for purchase:

The cost is $11 per 20 lb. bag with a 10 bag minimum order which includes shipping, tax, and a $1 RMBBQA handling charge.
There is no limit on the number of bags that can be ordered but If you’re going to order more than 99 bags of anyone flavor you must place a second order for that flavor.
All orders will be placed by credit card on the RMBBQA website with no refunds - http://rmbbqa.org via the Members Only page (must login to site).
To facilitate picking up the orders there will be two pick up days (Saturday and Sunday). See timeline below. I will be there both days.
Please Note: It is imperative that all orders be picked up on time. Don will be charging $1 per bag for each day the order is not picked up by the designated date. Please make arrangements for someone to pick up your order if you are unable to pick it up yourself.

The timeline is as follows:
April 1 (Friday) 8am - Pellet ordering begins.
April 15 (Friday) - Pellet ordering closes.
April 28 (Thursday) - The pellet delivery arrives at Don’s Shop.
April 29 (Friday) - RMBBQA volunteers will arrive in the morning (10am) to help sort the bags into individual orders. *If you’re available that day please stop by and volunteer.
April 30 (Saturday) - Pick up pellets from 10am-2pm.
May 1 (Sunday) - Pick up pellets from 10am-2pm.
May 7 (Saturday) Snow Day - Pick up pellets from 10am-2pm. There will not be a second snow day pick up as May 8 is Mother’s Day.

You can email me at directorrudy@rmbbqa.org if there are any questions. You can, also, PM me on Facebook to get my cell phone number.
Brad the pellet buy will more than likely take place in April. If the online payment plan gets done sooner than later I may ask the board to move up the date. I'll post as soon as we're ready.

Rudy
We're close to finalizing the details. A couple of the board members are working on setting up a pay online program on the RMBBQA website. As soon as that's a go the and the remaining few details are worked out we'll post on Facebook, the RMBBQA website, and an email blast to the members.

Rudy
Hey Rudy....any decisions on the buy at the meeting?  Can you tell that I'm out of pellets?

Brian,
The pellet buy is a topic that is on the upcoming RMBBQA Board of Directors agenda. We will be meeting soon (February 6th) to discuss the 2016 pellet buy.
Stand by for any further details. We'll let everyone know as soon as the pellet buy details have been decided upon and a vendor has been chosen.
Thank you for your inquiry.
